WHO Acknowledges Sudarsan Pattnaik for Creating COVID-19 Awareness Through His Sand Art
Internationally acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattanik has been spreading awareness on various concerning matters through his sand art. The Puri Beach in Odisha, India has witnessed many sand sculptures by Sudarsan Pattnaik on COVID-19. Recently, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has acknowledged him for his efforts to create awareness on the current COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
The artist created a series of murals urging people to stay indoors, in order to curb the spread of the virus. Besides, he also implored the people not to panic and spread misinformation.

In response to one of such tweets, WHO Director-General Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, “Art is a powerful tool to send powerful messages to the world. Thank you @sudarsansand for being one of the most beautiful voices against #COVID19 since it started threatening people’s lives.”

Spreading awareness, Sudarsan Pattnaik has created over a half dozen sand works on COVID-19 to make people aware about the pandemic and how to stay safe in such torrid times.
