HAYAN’s Biodegradable Toothbrushes Made From Corn-Based Plastic
The new South Korean label has launched the No.001 Pistachio Green Toothbrush
From toothbrush to comb, everything that we use on a daily basis usually consists of plastic. In order to minimize the snowballing of plastic waste, we need to eliminate it from our basic needs, South Korean label HAYAN’s No.001 Pistachio Green Toothbrushes are made out of biodegradable, corn-based plastic.
The product is not only sustainable but also aesthetically pleasing. It is one of the most reliable alternatives for oral care routine. Plastics are largely used to serve several purposes but this non-biodegradable material is also very well-known for causing adverse impacts on the environment and human health. It takes several years or even decades for plastic to decompose and most of the times, they are not all degradable.
Substituting plastic with biodegradable materials is considered to be the only possible approach to reduce toxic waste from the environment. In the coming years, sustainable recycling would significantly contribute towards environmental redemption.
Yearly, thousands of plastic toothbrushes end up in landfills contributing to the environmental degradation. To save the day, HAYAN has opted for this eco-friendly corn-based plastic made from polylactic acid (PLA) as opposed to bamboo.
These corn-based toothbrushes are like any other regular toothbrush with a slightly curved design for better grip. The toothbrush takes approximately six months to decompose completely and can be returned to HAYAN to be used as compost or recycled to produce more oral hygiene products.
This sustainable item is currently available in Korea and Singapore only. Plastic litter is increasing day by day and we need to switch to sustainable alternatives now!
