Despite numerous lakes and waterfalls in the Chhattisgarh region, the water supply in the summer season shortens as many water bodies dry up. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has taken the initiative of reviving the natural water resources and making artificial ponds in Chhattisgarh’s red zone area. The initiative will help the people to get ample water supply during the hot months of summer as well.

A CRPF official revealed that according to a recent survey, the present water bodies meet up to 95 percent of the total water requirement of the villagers in the region. The initiative includes at least a dozen identified villages where either natural sources are to be revived or the force will create artificial ponds to suffice the water requirement.

Recently, the Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla held a meeting with top officials and security forces’ chief in the state. The CRPF took this initiative after the visit of Union Home Secretary. The government has adopted a two-sided approach to mitigate water scarcity and the Naxals.
On one hand, security forces will tackle Naxalism, while simultaneously working on infrastructural development in the red zone area.
