In a bid to raise awareness against plastic pollution, a huge model called ‘Trap’ which is made out of 1500 plastic bottles has been installed in Kochi. The project was visualized and designed by a filmmaker K.K. Ajith Kumar. In collaboration with Biju Thomas, the structure was created within five months and it cost around Rs 1.5 lakh.

The 25 ft. high installation with a six ft. diameter base is built in Kochi as part of a campaign against the use of plastic. It depicts a ‘man’ trapped in a bottle. Each bottle has a human-shaped cut out trapped inside it.
This project has been done as part of plastic-free campaign. It is called ‘Trap’. Its tagline is ‘trapper trapped’. We throw plastic bottles in the ocean and other places without caring for the environment, these plastic particles are consumed by the aquatic animals like fishes which are then consumed by humans. So indirectly we are feeding on the plastic.

The inside of the installation has mirrors on the walls to allow an experience to the people as to how it feels being trapped inside of waste and encourage them to eliminate the usage of plastic.

Kumar also revealed that the plastic bottles were sourced from the rag-pickers. The human-shaped cut-outs inside the bottles elicit the feeling of being trapped inside the very same trash the humans are producing.
The motive behind this creation is to deliver a message of avoiding all kinds of plastic in order to save to the environment from its noxious effects.
