A few days ago a deer had been seen wandering the West Virginia woods with its head stuck in a Halloween bucket. After a rescue mission by a dedicated team of wildlife biologists managed to free the deer’s head from the bucket.
According to the West Virginia Natural Resources Police, Glade Springs Director of Security Greg Duckworth informed their department about a yearling buck that had been seen stuck in a very tricky situation. As soon as the news reached the department, District Biologist Todd Dowdy was put in charge of a team to try and rescue the deer.
A game camera had captured the young buck with its head stuck inside a plastic trick-or-treating bucket. The deer had got his horn trapped in the handle of the bucket in a way that deer couldn’t remove it from its head.
The team of biologists began 6-day search and rescue mission with the help of the Glade Springs security. However, the team gradually succeeded to enclose the deer into a safe area, where it was tranquilized and then the bucket was removed off of its head. After its rescue, the team stayed with the deer until the effects of the drug wore off. Then, the deer returned to its natural habitat.
The deer had been surviving without food and water for some time. If it hadn’t been rescued, the deer could have starved to death. It’s not the first time that the careless actions of mankind had troubled the wildlife.
