Reach London to NYC in Just 3.5 Hours Courtesy of Futuristic Supersonic Jet
The world's fastest airliner Overture runs on 100 percent sustainable aviation fuel
When you are flying from London to New York or vice-versa, the trip is quite exciting. But you often get troubled with a long-haul flight. Isn’t it? But not shortly! US-based aerospace company Boom Supersonic is working on developing its futuristic supersonic jet Overture which will be the world’s faster airliner to fly from New York to London within only 3.5 hours.
This aircraft will carry around 65-80 passengers at an ultra-high speed of around 2,100 kilometers per hour. Hence, this highly-awaited jet would make traveling much more accessible with reduced air travel time. Besides London and NYC, this get can connect around 500 more destinations in drastically reduced time.
According to Boom Founder and CEO Blake Scholl, the aviation sector has not seen such a huge leap in decades. But with Overture, things will change in terms of travel time. This new supersonic jet boasts a futuristic and sleek design with four engines. This 800 m jet can fly at a high speed of up to Mach 1.7 with a range of around 4,250 nautical miles.
Another good thing about this supersonic jet is that it’s designed to run on 100 percent sustainable aviation fuel. It means no carbon emissions will release into the environment. So, you can travel guilt-free.
The new Overture will come integrated with four wing-mounted, powerful engines with reduced noise. This will further lessen the airline operators’ costs. Furthermore, this jet will come integrated with a new noise-reducing system for a quieter traveling experience. Thanks to its gull wings, this jet will have better performance and also provide more stability and safety at different speeds.
If we speak of sustainability, it is woven into every aspect of this aircraft, from production and design to flight and recycling after it’s no longer in use. Due to its eco-conscious design, Overture boasts a huge diameter at its front and a smaller diameter at the rear. This design helps in reducing drag while maximizing fuel efficiency at ultra-high speeds.
The interiors of this new supersonic jet are luxurious and elegant. The company will start its production in 2024 and they are hoping to complete it by 2025 and offer services by 2029. However, the company claims that they have already got 70 orders for this aircraft from various brands, like Japan and United Airlines.
American Airlines has announced that it has agreed to buy 20 Overture jets from Boom, while it may purchase 40 more if all goes well. The promises are big; let’s hope that the company achieves what it aims to acquire.
