In this day and age, recycling is considered to be the only possible approach to reduce toxic waste from the environment. In the coming years, sustainable recycling would significantly contribute towards environmental redemption.
Microsoft has launched a sustainable wireless peripheral, the Ocean Plastic Mouse. SABIC and the silicon giant have collaborated to create Microsoft’s first consumer electronic product made from recyclable plastic.
As the name suggests, the outer shell of the mouse is made of 20 percent recycled ocean plastic. Waste recovered from oceans is processed into resin pellets, which are thereafter mixed with other materials to make the shell. The idea of recycling ocean plastic would help cleaning up the oceans and reduce the usage of virgin plastic in manufacturing electronic devices and accessories.
The mouse comes along with an absolute recyclable packaging, consisting of a sugarcane-fiber box. It is an effective alternative for a plastic covering. The paper pulp packaging makes it one of the most admirable things about the product.
The mouse includes three customizable buttons that back Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity ranging up to thirty-three feet, while the company also guarantees a 12-month warranty on a single AA battery. And it provides a Swift Pair technology for easy pairing between the device and computer.

A free mail-in program has been additionally made in order to reduce device-related waste, which allows the users to give away old mouse for recycling. The product will be worldwide available in markets from October 10, 2021.
The demand for sustainable recycling is increasing with time and as mentioned by Microsoft – “The Ocean Plastic Mouse is a small step forward in Microsoft’s sustainability journey.”
